It seems like there is data correction happening with regards to the deaths for the past few days both at the county level and the state level. Change is to follow the federal guidelines to report deaths based on death certificates. So hopefully, we should be seeing the deaths go down in the coming days.

I presume the reporter meant July and not June below, within the article:
June 27 -- changed from 5,713 to 5,489, +451 instead of +675
June 28 -- changed from 5,877 to 5,650, +161 instead of +164
June 29 -- changed from 6,190 to 5,952, +302 instead of +313

Even with the correction, the numbers are high. It seems like they are correcting the data from the past and the corrections from the past months have been included within the last 3 days?

The graphs below are showing different numbers than what is being reported in the news. It seems like the numbers reported are huge corrections for all the preceding months.

There is a note below the graphs that state: "Because DSHS is reporting fatalities by date of death, the number of fatalities for recent days will continue to grow as more death certificates are filed for those days."
I am not clear what that means.

It means that when a person dies the death certificate is not filed instantly. It might take a week or two. Obviously public stats on deaths need to be reported by the date of death, so any such statistics will be incomplete during the lag time till the majority of death certificates have been filed.

How do you explain the discrepancy between the numbers being reported and the graph for the deaths below? The numbers in the graph show less than 50 daily deaths for the past week or more and a downward trending slope for the 7-day average. However 300+ deaths have been reported for the last couple of days:
https://txdshs.maps.arcgis.com/apps/...01e8b9cafc8b83

I think a huge correction is taking place and all the extra deaths for the past 2 to 3 months are being reported in the recent numbers of 300+ daily deaths.

From what I can tell, corrections have already been done (so 300+ numbers do apply for the last two days). The above mentioned 675 was briefly listed for July 27 or worldometers but then it was changed to much lower (so they distributed into the cumulative total).
