Some storms entered the state at 5am. Vivid lightning and thunder down in Greenwich. This should pass through by 8am but all day there will be a chance of these pop up.

I do not see how we can get to 70 degrees with this setup. Marine layer doesnt want to budge. Temps still hovering 50 mostly. 1/4" of rain fell in past 45 minutes.

Here's the radar image with a 3D view of the Thunderstorm entering Fairfield county at 5am. 30-40,000 foot tops.

Latest NAM thinks 70s will happen. I guess if the sun comes out, Yes. But if that Marine layer still holds ground after 2 days then I dont think so.

NAM6z Surface temps for 5pm today.

I dont think we're out of it yet but it definetly is denting it.

I remember reading last month CPC thought it would improve soon and looks like they were right.

Waiting for their update still.

Here's how the departures look using last 14 days(left) Last 30 days (right). Obviously last 2 weeks have been wet with areas 100-200% above normal.

(100= normal)

Good news: Cloudy weather cuts down on evapotranspiration of soil moisture out of the ground and helps out the drought situation.
Bad news: After the ridiculous stretch of warm/hot and sunny days in March this cloudy pattern is more depressing.
Great news: fire danger is alleviated and vegetation seems to be greening up.
Best news: for those that prefer cooler weather it appears the eastern trough and storminess trend will lock into place this month with the NAO and AO both forecasted to trend negative and the PNA forecasted to trend positive.

Default Suoermoon - Cold Front - GFS

Tonight will be a SuperMoon so try to catch a glimpse of it when it rises after 6pm. It will be bigger than usual. Post pictures in the CT Photo Thread!
AccuWeather.com - Outdoor - 'Supermoon' Alert: Biggest Full Moon of 2012 Occurs This Week (http://www.accuweather.com/en/outdoor-articles/astronomy/supermoon-alert-biggest-full-m/64627 - broken link)

As fast as the warm front came through(or slow), a cold front is now moving through the area with Canadien High building behind it. Temps will be tamed this weekend. Lets hope the clouds dissapear in time for Moon Rise!

GFS continues its Negative NAO(blocking) and keeps temps near or slightly below normal next 7 days. Looking at the forecast seems like temps are steady in the 60s during day and 40s/50s at night. Normal for May. Coastal Low moves in Tuesday-Thursday with more rain.

Default Where's the Sun??

I think I've seen the sun for a couple hours in the last 72 hours!

Once again, marine layer clouds over us keeping us gray and cool. 50s widespread at lunch time.

Almost comical where Connecticut is on the map. Just north of the border its in the 60s. In fact Syracuse and Buffalo were in the mid 80s for a few days before today
