Hows that for a spin in all directions? lol
Warm patten continues but weaker than previously.

Good way of putting it.

Looks like Central Park will miss the "top 10", it's monthly average is at 54.8 and today is expected to average just about that (monthly average of at least 55.1 needed to make it), but seeing Cambium's graphic, looks like a lot of New England locations will easily be in theirs yet again......

By the way, saw this on Facebook on a group called "Hudson Valley Weather". Wonder if it will be true in some New England spots as well....

"NWS in Binghamton is reporting for the first time since record keeping began a colder April then March."

Using Hartford and Bridgeport. Since April 22nd the Highs and/or Lows have been below normal.

Take a look at Burlington, VT. Aside from those 3 days of much above normal, its been well below normal since April 22nd and pretty much near-slightly above normal before.

All to change this week as we return to normal-slightly above for a few days.

Yes, it looks like NWS Central Park will not make it into the list of top 10 warmest April months since 1869. Still, it was another above normal month at Central Park.

As one who follows NWS MMT data (monthly mean temp) closely out of habit… what is interesting is that the streak of above normal months since mid 2011 is not confined to just NWS Central Park or urban heat islands stations in the eastern USA. I didn’t check all the stations of course, but one of the longest streaks I can find at any NWS station in the Tri-State/Middle Atlantic is NWS Norfolk, VA. They have now had 13 consecutive months of above normal temps at NWS Norfolk…with many months ending 5- 9 F above normal! This April (now 14 months) will once again end close to 2.5 F above normal…so it is not just Central Park or the massive urban heat island in the I-95 area;

I don’t know what the record is…but it will really be interesting to see when – and if - this steak ends. True Climate change is not something I would ever really want to see.

Friday looks to be the hottest day in the upper Atlantic states; We should keep in mind that this is not a July or August forecast high temp map...its a early May one:

Unlikely. The March heat wave was more intense further west than in New England and upstate NY got colder temperatures during and after the Northeaster (several days staying in the 30s) late April.

Such beautiful days and nights here. Looked at my former home in Charlotte and its 80's 80's 80's/...so glad I get nice cool crisp weather in spring here like its supposed to be. Its actually more like a fall pattern. I don't remember so many windy days up here at this time of year.

The time for summer heat belongs in SUMMER.

Agree, but on that note. lol.. Take a look at the heat creeping on up. Its coming. Upper level winds from the south pushing it into us.

I dont think we'll see 80s though. Maybe one day of 70 something? Two maybe.

Side note: I saw GFS had 5 inches of rain for Florida tonight in 24 hrs time.

Default Snowless April in Albany, NY

One thing I cant stand about NWS Upton NY is they dont ever post stats and good info. Unlike Boston, Albany, Binghamton, ect they post graphs and stats. Its like you have to wake Upton up and ask them first.

Anyway .. here's a cool stat.

With 0.0" of snow (not even a TRACE) recorded this April in Albany, it ties the record for least snowiest April on record with several other years, including 1890, 1959, 1968, 1980, 1991, 1998, 1999, & 2005...

The 30-year average for April is 2.3" of snow.
