I was surprised to see a lilac bush fully bloomed on Sun. (April 22), but since have noticed lots of them blooming. Last night I looked up on the rocks near where I live and saw the wisteria trees flowered. I used to see them towards late May. Think I might be picking strawberries at the pick-your-own in early June rather than late June this year. Hope so!

Speaking of Strawberries... Mmmm, Flowers came out 2 weeks ago and now I just realized today whats there. :-) Not bad for $5-10 bag of 10 at Walmart last year. :-)

April 29th. next one to watch.

Euro amplifies it more than GFS (sound familiar?) but warmer
GFS has a weak system crossing but colder and brings snows down to CT (sound familiar?)
CMC goes nuts again over PA

I'm getting a good feeling that models are finally acting predictable. They all do agree on this wave coming through. (small one)

It would be a nighttime event so assume some snow in Litchfield and Hartford Counties for now.

GFS12z.

Snow totals. Half foot for same area in PA. 3-4" into Litchfield.

HPC has night lows mostly in the low 30s.

Henry didnt believe in the last snows until the GFS caved in. Here's his map for this weekend.

Thats just this new pattern we are in. Be thankful it didnt happen 2 months ago.

Same here. Mine would have bloomed even earlier with the warmer March and April…but I think the drought actually set them back. The same thing happen to the forsythia, they where bright yellow buds at the end of March, but it took till mid April for them to really come out, again I think because of the drought. As far as Strawberries, I think they will be out early this year. Try Bishops in Guilford, in early mid June.

The rain did help though; everything in my yard now has a much deeper shade of green.

The new ECMWF is out...this takes us to mid May. It seems to show that the first two weeks of May will be warm and dry across much of the eastern USA. In fact, week two (May 7 to 13 ) could see very warm conditions(relative to normal) in the Northeast:

So now the big question - will May follow March and April with above normal spring warmth?

Gil Simmons said the same thing. :-) I never knew about him until last year when people here mentioned his name a lot. He seems like a nice guy.

Gil Simmons April 28-29, 2012 CT Forecast - YouTube

Edit - He explains that the models overnight keep the storm south of us so we could stay dry or just cloudy for the weekend.

I'm thinking a drizzle or two. Maybe less than .10" of rain.
