Now the issue turns to flooding...this has me concerned greatly. On Monday by mid day, the souherly flow will strengthen, and warm air will flood into the Middle Atlantic and Tri-State area. NYC/coastal CT might see 50 - 52 F, while most of Connecticut will see upper 40's. Worse, as Monday night comes, fog and heavy rain will combine with warm temps. Fog and rain melts snow very rapidly. I would not be suprised to see flooding by Tuesday. Skies should clear by Tuesday, with continued 50 F temps and sunshine. So snow fans should get out and enjoy the snowcover....while it lasts. By Tuesday it will be 50 F in our area and maybe 65 F in North Carolina

Here is the latest NWS forecast for this week.

Monday: A chance of drizzle, then rain, mainly after 1pm. Areas of fog after 1pm. High near 48. East wind between 6 and 13 mph. Chance of precipitation is 80%.

Monday Night: Rain, mainly before 1am. Areas of fog before 1am. Low around 39. South wind between 10 and 13 mph becoming calm. Chance of precipitation is 80%.

Tuesday: Mostly sunny, with a high near 50.

Wednesday: Sunny, with a high near 43.

Thursday: Mostly cloudy, with a high near 42.

Friday: A chance of showers early. Mostly sunny, with a high near 43.

It looked like the snow was more to the east. I know Danbury only got like 4-5. Did this storm suddenly strengthen or did it take a slightly more coastal route?

I think it strengthened/positioned in a way where there was a lot more banding in LI, coastal CT, RI, and the Cape. Even coastal areas west of CT only got 4-5 (actually the Jersey Shore got even less because rain mixed in there).

Be careful in the early morning, NWS now has a Freezing Rain Advisory for the ENTIRE state of CT!

Even the rest of the NYC tri-state area is under it. Had my suspicions this might happen when it stayed in the 20s most of the day instead of going into the mid-30s as predicted. Still should be warm and rainy most of the day tomorrow and 50s for most with sun on Tuesday so bye bye snow nonetheless.

I don't know if everywhere in the Tri-State area will lose their snow cover even after 50 - 55 F on Tuesday. As of right now , about 40% of the snowcover is gone on the shoreline. Current temp is 48.7 F. I think the NW Hills of CT or NW NJ will keep some snow cover maybe. Still, the days are getting longer now and the angle of the sun gets higher everyday. So it will be a foot race to keep snow on the ground it seems.

It's also staying on longer than I thought because it was only drizzle until now and barely got to 40 until now. So I think even on the coast it might hang on another day, maybe 2.

Except maybe for snow mixing in on Saturday, looks like no measurable snowfalls for the tri-state and coastal CT between now and the beginning of Feb. if the Weather Channel and Accu-Weather's long-range is to be believed.
