NWS's latest forecast updates seem to be suggesting (at least for southwestern CT) snow starting at 10pm TONIGHT and up to 2 inches by morning and up to 4 by 5pm tomorrow when the "blizzard" starts.......

Dot plow truck drivers work 17 hours on 3 hours off....yeah talk about dangerous. Cdl drivers can't drive for more than 8. Because it's been proven they fall asleep. Not only is it dangerous, but it's brutal for the drivers. Lots of people need jobs. Time to hire more drivers.

I don't know why the nws has the winter storm warning starting at 4:00am. It confuses people. That's not even the storm. It's a separate system entirely. That's why there will be a lull.

Blizzard warnings for Long Island. CT will see those condition's we just don't meet the criteria for a warning. Tomorrow mornings commute might be treacherous. Thursday Night-Friday will possibly be blizzard conditions.

Lets not forget the cold temps. Friday Night looks to be below zero across the state.

FRONTOGENETIC FORCING MIGHT RESULT IN A QUICK 1-2 INCH BURST OF SNOW...INITIALLY ACROSS THE LOWER HUDSON VALLEY THAN SAGGING SOUTHEAST NORTH OF NYC...ACROSS SOUTHERN CT AND LONG ISLAND. ALTHOUGH MOST OF THE HEAVIER SNOWFALL IS FORECAST WITH THE DEVELOPMENT OF THE COASTAL LOW...BECAUSE THIS 1-2 INCH SNOWFALL WILL IMPACT THE MORNING RUSH HOUR...DECIDED TO ISSUE THE WINTER STORM EARLIER FOR THE LOWER HUDSON VALLEY AND SOUTHERN CT BASED ON POTENTIAL IMPACT WHICH WAS COLLABORATED WITH THE SURROUNDING NWS OFFICES.

SUSTAINED WINDS OF 20 TO 30 MPH AND GUSTS 35 TO 40 MPH POSSIBLE FROM NYC METRO...ACROSS LONG ISLAND...AND INTO FAR SE CONNECTICUT DURING THIS TIME. THESE STRONG WINDS COMBINED WITH A POWDERY SNOW WILL RESULT IN CONSIDERABLE DRIFTING AND BLOWING SNOW...WITH POTENTIAL BLIZZARD CONDITIONS. BASED ON COLLABORATION WITH SURROUNDING OFFICES WILL HOLD OFF ON BLIZZARD WATCH FOR NOW WITH SOME UNCERTAINTY ON INTENSITY AND DURATION OF SNOW BANDING ALONG THE COAST. TRAVEL CONDITIONS WILL LIKELY BE DIFFICULT THU NIGHT INTO FRIDAY MORNING.

TEMPS PLUMMET THU NIGHT INTO FRIDAY MORNING TO SINGLE DIGITS ACROSS INTERIOR AND LOWER TO MID TEENS COAST AS LOW PRESSURE TRACKS SE OF THE REGION AND NW FLOW DRAGS IN ARCTIC AIR MASS FROM THE NW. WIND CHILLS IN THE SINGLE DIGITS BELOW ZERO LIKELY ACROSS CITY AND COAST AND 10 TO 15 DEGREES BELOW ZERO ACROSS INTERIOR ZONES. TEMPS AND WIND CHILLS DO NOT REBOUND MUCH AT ALL ON FRIDAY...MAKING FOR THE MOST FRIGID CONDITIONS THE AREA HAS EXPERIENCED IN YEARS.

  • Tonight Snow likely, mainly after 10pm. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 17. Light north wind becoming northeast 6 to 11 mph in the evening. Chance of precipitation is 60%. Total nighttime snow accumulation of 1 to 2 inches possible.
  • Thursday Snow. High near 22. Northeast wind 14 to 16 mph. Chance of precipitation is 80%. New snow accumulation of 1 to 2 inches possible.
  • Thursday Night Snow. Low around 8. Wind chill values as low as -10. Blustery, with a north wind 17 to 21 mph. Chance of precipitation is 100%. New snow accumulation of 4 to 8 inches possible.
  • Friday Snow, mainly before noon. High near 15. Wind chill values as low as -12. Blustery, with a northwest wind 17 to 22 mph decreasing to 11 to 16 mph in the afternoon. Chance of precipitation is 100%. New snow accumulation of less than one inch possible.
  • Friday Night Partly cloudy, with a low around -8. Northwest wind 5 to 7 mph.
