I noticed that the watches, etc. are now emphasizing thursday night into Friday.....though forecast still shows snow of some sort for all of Thursday, that could make it interesting, especially for school districts. Most CT districts AFAIK are opening from Xmas/New Year's break on Thursday (ironically, most but not all NY districts had the break planned to stay closed until Monday Jan. 6).

Yes it does. And Criteria calls for 3 hours or longer of 30mph+ to call for it.. Might get close.

Agree. Good statement but technically based on criteria blizzard not that far.. I saw a blizzard warning in North Dakota the other day for 1 inch of snow. No joke. If we get those winds to stay over 30mph for us it's possible to label it that. But I don't think so. Just a good old New England Snowstorm.

Should of been changed 2 days ago unless they are flexible to change spur of moment. Thursday has been the horrible day to go anywhere.

Note there's no Winter Storm Watch for northern CT. I guess 6" in 24 hrs+ would not meet the criteria. But interestingly they just issued a special weather statement regarding the upcoming cold!

Also don't forget. While it snows a lot in our area, getting 6"+ storms aren't 'that common

For instance.. Here's some records.. If Islip gets 5 inches or more Thursday then they enter Top 10 biggest snow total for entire month of January on record. Bridgeport needs 7" or more. Hartford 10.3"+.

So as you can see, a storm with these possible totals don't happen much that they are the Top 10 biggest.
