Stayed quite a bit warmer than forecast. Danbury and my station bottomed at around 30 rather than ~22.

We see 15-25 degree temp swings "locally", but how about a 40-50 degree temp swing Regionally? Within 62 hours!

Hartford was 69 Friday afternoon now 28.

We fell to 32.9 F….my second reading in the 30’s F this fall. It looks like last night/tonight (to a slightly lesser degree) will be the coolest nights for the next week or so. After tonight, NWS has lows from upper 30’s to upper 40’s rest of the week…with highs in the 50’s and 60’s F. So it looks to be a one day cold shot:

One other note: For what they are worth…they updated the 8 to 14 day outlook….it seems to show temps above normal in much of the USA (including the East Coast from Florida to Rhode Island). This seems to be following NWS/NOAA prediction of November 2013 following October 2013 in being dry and rather mild for much of the month:

A look at what's coming up. Nothings changed except a tiny factor. It wont be as warm mid week now.

A look at the GFS12z data for northern CT (BDL). Normal highs are in the mid 50s. Normal Lows are mid 30s.

No more summer temps or warm Spring temps for that matter for the next week or so.

  • So we have 2-3 days of this cold air mass over us.
  • Then we have seasonable temps for 2 days which includes 1 day in the mid-upper 50s
  • then guess what............ back down we go.
  • Daytime struggling past 40s again Friday and Saturday
  • then back up but to seasonable levels in the low-mid 50s
Also note.... lack of rain! But next chance is Thursday from the front that will trigger the next cool down.

Put it this way... It looks like we're getting more below normal days than above normal now. Lets see if the trend continues. It might be in the 50s Thursday morning which would be well above the normal low but the warm ups are faster to leave then the cool downs.
