I did a double take myself when I saw it yesterday. lol. Then had to confirm for myself and look at the time frame for it. Might be the last one we see. Let us know how low you go. I technically haven't been below freezing yet (32.2° was my lowest so far this season)

I'll drain and shut my outside water hose off just in case.

Not only Driest on Record for BDR but October was the 2nd driest of any month on record.
Currently the area is in D1 Drought Status.

"The month of October 2013 was the driest October on record (since 1949) at Bridgeport, CT. There was only 0.32" inches of rain which beat the previous driest of 0.33" in 1963. October 2013 at Bridgeport was also the second driest month since records have been kept! The driest month at Bridgeport happened in June 1949 when only 0.07" fell."

Posting Today Sunday November 3rd.

Northwest winds, Blue skies, leaves flying all over the place, wind gusts to 30mph, temps in the 40s with sun while football and woodstove on in the background.

3pm temps. They should have crested by now and slowly making their descent into the evening

From Upton:::: "It is going to feel like winter tonight! Cold temperatures in the 20s and lower 30s are forecast. It will be only a few degrees warmer in NYC. Monday morning will be the first time Central Park has seen temperatures in the 30s since April 21. Make sure to bundle up as you head out the door on Monday morning for work or school!"

Default First Cold Day of the Season

How much of a delay will the Metro-North have to GCT?

I say 30 min by 9.00 am

Dude, they're predicting lows in the upper 20s to low 30s, not 0. If Metro North had problems in those temperatures all the time they would pretty much not run from Christmas to Presidents Day.

However, for next week and after… I think we slowly (s-l-o-w-l-y) transition into a more seasonable pattern, and mean temps will not be so much above normal as they have been for the first 3 weeks of October. We are likely done with 70 F’s this fall in the Tri-State area after this week.

This first wave of cooler air this coming weekend (although it will hardly be truly cold) will usher in more seasonable air in the Tri-State/Mid Atlantic. The ECMF now goes out to November 12th…and while there still appears to be above normal warmth along much of the East Coast from Florida to VA, the Mid and upper East Coast look seasonable in early/mid November. The warmth for Alaska normally means no severe cold down in the USA . So I think early November will not see any below normal temps in much of the USA, at least if this long range forecast holds:

Still, I see no below normal cold for the Tri-State area at least to mid November...so we all should save a bit on heating for the next 30 days or so:

I don't think the NAO and AO will go into negative territory until late in the month. No blocking and zonal flow continuing with colder and milder periods alternating.
