Overall this should last another 4 hours!

It's amazing how this all transpired. Truely amazing. how the storm was supposed to happen 2 days ago and it would have been mostly rain but because it happened today the cold air was able to filter into it..

I actually got callled from work and told not to report for third shift tonight : )
Too bad NE weather isn't like a gas tank where the sky could actually run out of snow
and be done for the year, why has it snowed SO OFTEN this year.
I know its winter but once a week is a tad unusual?

I cant wait to read your posts in the morning..LOL... I went from 7" at 11:30pm to 11" at 12:30am. THATS 4" AN HOUR RATE! And still coming down!

Was shoveling a path for dog just now and another inch fell in 30 minutes.

At least this didnt happen during the day! Cars would be abandoned all over the tri state.

This storm is blasting right now in Manchester, cars have probably 6 inches in them, snow intensity is very high. I grew up in central Maine, but this winter has impressed me.

Highways are a mess. DOT just instituted a truck ban on the highways until 10 am. No school just about anywhere in CT today.

Generally, NWS is showing 10-17" amounts throughout the Tri-State, but those were 1am readings, so I wouldn't be surprised if some places got 20".

All 3 NYC airports plus Bridgeport already broke their monthly record for total January snow. Central Park's is also the 2nd snowiest month ever (if 4 1/2 more inches falls between 1am and the 31st breaks the all time record which was just set Feb. of last year.....maybe that happened last night.....site shows about 0.4-0.5" of precip from 1am to end of storm, so I guess depends on the snow ratio).
