Notre Dame gets a lot of hate for obvious reasons. They are like the Dallas Cowboys(the Cowboys haven't done anything since winning their last Super Bowl in 1996). They get a ton of attention due to their prestige. ND has not won a legitimate bowl game since 1994. They were outplayed in all 3 of their BCS bowl games, 2 of which many felt they did not deserve to be in. In the last several years we've heard, "is ND back?" on more than one occasion only to see them fall off at the end of the season.
They look good thus far. But once they play Stanford, OU and USC, we will really know. All ND needs to do is avoid losing more than 2 games and they have secured themselves a trip out to Glendale for the Fiesta Bowl.

Media loves to ask/claim a program being back. We've heard forever that Miami and/or FSU is back. I guess ND seems to be the "ACC" team that could be back. Like you said they have not proven much yet.

With all due respect...who the hell has anyone played yet? Alabama has beaten up scrubs. UGA was playing Little Sisters of the Poor and Okefenokee Tech, and so was LSU, but when they both played good teams they got hit the mouth. I'd put our schedule up against any team's and I feel like it'd stack up, except maybe Florida and possibly USCe.
This is what pisses me off...Alabama has an epic cupcake schedule and so does UGA. Bama will probably run the table beating only a (relatively) weak LSU team en route to the SECCG but they will get credit for a "tough" SEC schedule because the media is full of SEC fanboys. UGA could likely lose to the only two legit teams on their schedule (USCe who they already lost to and FL) and still cruise to a 10-2 record and a top 10 ranking because of a "brutal" SEC schedule.
Let's look at some schedule comparisons:
Alabama-
09/01/12 vs. Michigan Arlington, Texas (Cowboys Stadium) W, 41-14
09/08/12 vs. Western Kentucky Tuscaloosa, Ala. W, 35-0
09/15/12 at Arkansas * Fayetteville, Ark. W, 52-0
09/22/12 vs. Florida Atlantic Tuscaloosa, Ala. W, 40-7
09/29/12 vs. Ole Miss * Tuscaloosa, Ala. W, 33-14
10/13/12 at Missouri * Columbia, Mo. 2:30 p.m. CT
10/20/12 at Tennessee * Knoxville, Tenn. TBA
10/27/12 vs. Mississippi State * Tuscaloosa, Ala. TBA
11/03/12 at LSU * Baton Rouge, La. 7 p.m. CT
11/10/12 vs. Texas A&M * Tuscaloosa, Ala. TBA
11/17/12 vs. Western Carolina Tuscaloosa, Ala. TBA
11/24/12 vs. Auburn * Tuscaloosa, Ala. TBA
The good teams on that list are Michigan, LSU, and Texas A&M. Western Kentucky, FAU, and Western Carolina are straight garbage. Arkansas, Ole Miss, Mizzou, Tennessee, Mississippi State, and Auburn are all bottom dwelling SEC teams. That's three decent teams, and 9 teams that range from horrendous to mediocre.
It gets worse with UGA:
09/01/12 vs. Buffalo Athens, Ga. W, 45-23
09/08/12 at Missouri * Columbia, Mo. W, 41-20
09/15/12 vs. Florida Atlantic Athens, Ga. W, 56-20
09/22/12 vs. Vanderbilt * Athens, Ga. W, 48-3
09/29/12 vs. Tennessee * Athens, Ga. W, 51-44
10/06/12 at South Carolina * Columbia, S.C. L, 35-7
10/20/12 at Kentucky * Lexington, Ky. 7:00 p.m. ET
10/27/12 vs. Florida * Jacksonville, Fla. 3:30 p.m. ET
11/03/12 vs. Ole Miss * Athens, Ga. TBA
11/10/12 at Auburn * Auburn, Ala. TBA
11/17/12 vs. Georgia Southern Athens, Ga. 1:30 p.m. ET
11/24/12 vs. Georgia Tech Athens, Ga. TBA
Buffalo, FAU, Georgia Southern, and Georgia Tech are straight garbage teams. USCe and Florida are good, everyone else is pretty bleak. They pretty much have 10 (all but) guaranteed wins.
Notre Dame-
09/01/12 vs. Navy Dublin, Ireland W, 50-10
09/08/12 vs. Purdue Notre Dame, Ind. W, 20-17
09/15/12 at Michigan State East Lansing, Mich. W, 20-3
09/22/12 vs. Michigan Notre Dame, Ind. W, 13-6
Shamrock Series 10/06/12 vs. Miami Chicago, Ill. W, 41-3
10/13/12 vs. Stanford Notre Dame, Ind. 3:30 p.m. ET
10/20/12 vs. BYU Notre Dame, Ind. 3:30 p.m. ET
10/27/12 at Oklahoma Norman, Okla. TBA
11/03/12 vs. Pittsburgh Notre Dame, Ind. 3:30 p.m. ET
11/10/12 at Boston College Chestnut Hill, Mass. TBA
11/17/12 vs. Wake Forest Notre Dame, Ind. 3:30 p.m. ET
11/24/12 at USC Los Angeles, Calif. TBA
The garbage teams on this list are Purdue, Wake, BYU, and Navy. That's only four. Oklahoma, USCw, and Stanford are all very good teams. Coming into the season Michigan St. and Michigan were both top teams. The rest are decent but we have no Western Kentucky's, FAU's, or Georgia Southern's on this schedule. Yet at the end of the year SEC fanboys and ND haters will say we played a "fluff" schedule.

I will give you that if we fall off in the upcoming weeks we aren't really back but we're moving forward. We also haven't done anything to indicate we're winning with smoke and mirrors and it will end at some point. Brian Kelly's building a good program at ND.

I'm not necessarily disagreeing with you, but Oklahoma, USC and Stanford each have a loss with possibly more to come. It's possible ND's schedule could look quite a bit weaker if their opponents lose more games and their rankings. This is what happened to Alabama's schedule. Alabama's schedule at the beginning of the season didn't look weak. I don't think anyone expected Arkansas and Auburn to suck. Heck, even Michigan, Tennessee and Mizzou aren't too good. Time will tell! If ND goes undefeated, they must be considered for a NC. It would be a crime if they weren't.

(Mod edit-one sentence deleted)it is very true that the Notre Dame football program always attempts to schedule a challenging group of opponents.
I don't know why Irish eyes would be smiling over yet another illegitimate win, which more than likely will result in a forfeit at the end of the season, unless Notre Dame manages to pay off the NCAA again.
Let's face it, Miami should have easily beat Notre Dame, but yet again, for some reason the officials did not see any of the numerous penalties committed by Notre Dame. It is quite obvious that crooked Notre Dame pays the officials to allow them to get away with murder. A Notre Dame player could walk onto the field with a handgun and kill a Miami player with it and the referees would penalize Miami for being in the way of the bullet.
That gets my vote for worst post ever.
Notre Dame looks good this year. Could use some more production on offense (41 points against Miami doesn't convince me), but the defense looks great. Since Nebraska evidently still sucks, I am kind of rooting for Notre Dame.
Yeah buddy! Notre Dame whooped Stanford....we really need to keep Rees at QB if we want to win against Oklahoma and USC...
