118 more rooms in Greenville.

Is this the first hotel to open in Greenville since the 73-room Fairfield Inn in 2018?

That is pretty crazy but I think you are right. I didn't realize it's been that long since it's been open! Greenville needs hotels bad.

If my memory serves me, the Residence Inn opened about 2015 or 2016. That was about 95 rooms. That would be less than 300 new rooms in Greenville over about a 10 year period. Would love to see additional hotel projects downtown after the Hilton Garden is finished next year. That one will add about 100 rooms.

Default New Hotel under construction

This 5-story hotel is under construction and already topped out on Crosswinds Drive across from ECU Medical Center. (Staybridge Suites)

So in a 13 month period, you will have 3 new hotels open, offering up about 300 more rooms total. Homewood Suites, Staybridge Suites and Hilton Garden (downtown).

That's significant progress for a city that needed more rooms. Have to wonder what the backend of this previously announced development looks like

The move date for the Museum to the Cupola was supposed to be November. Any word on how the Cupola renovations are going? Maybe first of the year clearance of the site on Dickinson for the 155 unit Adler on the Avenue?

My understanding is that the Ficklen Marriott project will come after the apt project

Mark me down for Booty, please!

Though I think Scallywags has a decent shot at being chosen, maybe Peglegs. Forget the other two...

These are the 5 worst names i could think of for a team.

IMO Greenville needs its own thing not tied to ECU. 3 of the names being Pirate themed is disappointing. The other two are not great either. I voted Wildhogs thinking they could tie it to ENC BBQ, but the Triple G alliteration as the Garden Gnomes might be quirky enough to work.

Honestly, I agree with you. Probably should have given choices including river-themed names. Or combined pirates and the river themes with something like the Greenville River Raiders. Idk. With over 400 submissions, maybe they could have given us a longer ballot to choose from...
