I asked one of managers at the car dealership beside the circle K, and he said it will be a much larger circle K gas station.
I didn’t realize Circle K owned the property between the gas station and the car lot but the silt fence goes all the way around all of that. They have a lot of space to work with.
Well that just flat out blows. You’d think in this current hot real estate market the townhomes slated to be there would be a win.
I think this place will be great, but I would have preferred this to be sitting on top of a 4-5 story mixed use building in that space. I never liked the townhomes being there.
IIRC it’s a million dollar lot. They better sell a lot of tacos.
Absolutely. Which makes this business at this lot really odd and not at least part of a mixed use building. I wonder how the new taco & spirits bar , side/bar, run by the DAPHouse/Christine's owners are reacting to this taco & spirits bar opening 100 feet from them.
A new coffee & dessert bar , Over the top, is opening in the former tipsy teapot space this fall.
Another new coffee shop / restaurant, Coffee + Spice, will be opening on West 5th street.in a couple of weeks. This place looks really nice and might spark some development along west 5th street.
I work downtown and was interested in the townhomes. There needs to be housing downtown that is not old and ratty and full of college students. The grid and adjacent neighborhoods are not for everyone.

You know, looking at that schematic of the Taco spot, it doesn't look like a significant structure. IIRC Taft owns the lot and was looking to develop Townhomes. Maybe they did not get the interest to make it viable and this is a way to utilize the property. If things change or the restaurant doesn't last it doesn't look prohibitive to future development.
I am looking forward to the taco place though, arguably my favorite type of food!
