This isn’t good optics for him. But it’s still better than the last chancellor that was afraid to be seen in public.

"The Zooker" Ron Zook got the axe from UF back in 2004 (2005?) for much the same situation as Gerlach finds himself in now. Granted, I believe he got drunk and punched a frat kid (as a Gator, I probably would have done the same, but I wasn't coach then).

He's a public offficial; there's a difference between going out and having a drink around students and what appears to have occurred. The volume of pictures and videos is more concerning to me than the actual content.

And as mentioned, it does the institution no good to have a chancellor drinking at a party school, particularly if said school is attempting to change that image and become the "next great national university."

They finally actually came out and said it was an upgrade to Interstate standards.

Does anybody know what is going on with these things? They've suddenly started appearing all over the place.

That’s often used to mark the entrance to a construction site and make high clearance equipment operators aware of the power lines. May be a utility project getting ready to start. I’ve seen them too on Ivy Road and Mobley’s Bridge Road.

It seems strange. I've driven all over the place and I've never seen anything like it. I can understand them flagging the utility wires overhead but what's up with all of the rest of that stuff? There's two openings, one smaller than the other, signs of which some are positioned to be read from the road and others from the field side, multiple colors of plastic markers. Just a whole lot of stuff for a simple construction entrance.

My neighbor said they’re laying a natural gas pipeline.

That's what is happening on Eastern Pines Rd. These marked areas are all over the place. County Home Rd, Ivy Rd, Mobley's Bridge Rd, NC 43, Edwards Farm Rd and who knows where else. They can't install gas pipe everywhere at once.

Maybe they're alien landing zones????
