I'm pleased with these plans mentioned for the Imperial Site. I feel like a hotel is needed in that area & will be great for the businesses in and around Dickinson Ave, as will the market rate housing.
Does anyone know what the administrative building is they are referencing. The only thing I see still standing in the area is this:
Also - when are they supposed to start building those apartments on the corner of Dickinson & Reade?
I hope that the developers and or city connect Alley St and or Bonner at some point. Albemarle and Pacific have a lot of open land that could be part of UpTown and connect the city center with West Greenville.
Looks like the event plaza is separate from the development and a city focused project. Maybe they can work quickly to get this plaza project done quickly...hopefully in 2020.
I also like the presentation on creating a true arts district in the city. Also information about a new entrance sign for the city...
Is this "a lot" of surface parking proposed within this project? It looks like it but I don't really have a grasp of what would quantify as a normal vs too much....
It does seem like a lot of surface lots. A parking deck could have been implemented and freed up some space for more retail or office space. But it's much cheaper to build those surface lots.
I too hope they connect Albermarle & Atlantic. That's a huge piece of land that's ready for development. The big warehouse on Albemarle looks like it could be an awesome spot for a multi-use building like Dock 1053 in Raleigh..maybe even a food hall and/or brewery incubator.
