Wow absolutely ridiculous. Could not have happened at a worse time for the city.

Not surprising. NCDOT recently announced that projects all across the state were being pushed back for the same reason.

The City should offer to help fund the Dickinson project and get reimbursed later to keep it moving...there are way too many people with investments there that were depending on that project. And the project was delayed previously because of the 10th St Connector delays.

The other projects involve widenings so at least its just par for the course.

Perfect example of why you dont have a "kick the can down the road" mentality on government projects....at the local level. Get involved in the projects, push the State along. Greenville just got two projects done that it has been waiting for for over 20 years. The State will continue to put things off for whatever reason.

Would hope the right of way acquisition could get done even if the streets cant be widened. And again, WHO is going to push for that to help expedite the projects once funding is restored?

Is there a list available that shows the suspended projects?

The Dickinson project is really the most concerning one. All that work investing in the area & the state poops on it because they can't manage their money. I guarantee if this was a street in downtown Raleigh it wouldn't be put on hold.

In response to being reimbursed at a later day for projects, I’d love to hear everyone’s thoughts on a bond referendum? There’s a lot of projects that are needed over the next decade, and we’re going to need to be creative on financing them.

Greenville needs a road bond and Pitt County needs a school bond. They cant rely on the State to fix everything because then you have to get in line. Pitt County schools fall further and further behind on facilities every year compared to Raleigh, Charlotte, Wilmington, etc...

And the roads in Greenville ONLY affect Greenville...so why wouldnt local leaders borrow the money to fix them if they are going to be refunded by the State later. This is the perfect opportunity to push these projects forward with forward thinking. The momentum is there to create a great city...you shouldnt act like you are a 20K city that doesnt have the ability. And in terms of some of those widenings...they will have to wait because many are not in the city limits. Dickinson is a perfect example of one that is. And the City is already invested in it.

GREENVILLE - A Pitt County interchange ramp will close beginning next week to be upgraded as part of the Southwest Bypass project.

Beginning at 9 a.m. Aug. 19, drivers traveling west from Greenville where Stantonsburg Road becomes U.S. 264 West will not be able to take the right exit ramp for U.S. 264 East toward Washington.

The ramp is expected to be closed until Aug. 30, weather permitting, to ensure the safety of the public and the contractor.

Until it reopens, traffic will be detoured through three exit loops at the interchange. Drivers will take a right just past the overpass and the two immediate right exit loops for U.S. 264 East.

Motorists should anticipate needing extra time for their commute and use caution when approaching the work zone.
