Of course I've never been to any of these, but I would assume these would be in the top 10 (not ranked)...
Las Vegas
New York
Atlantic City
Memphis
Miami
Los Angeles
San Francisco
Boston
Chicago
Seattle
What would your top 10 be?
Well, your "assumption" is wrong 'if' you think that Las Vegas has a better nightlife than NYC. The nightlife in Vegas falls way off after you leave the strip. In NYC, you can party ALL over the city!
P.S. My bad, I didn't see that you said "not ranked". Sorry.......

If bars in NYC were open 24/7 you'd have a point. There's no bigger buzzkill than last call. Therefore, Vegas is in a league of its own in this category.

I take it you've NEVER partied in NYC? The bars stay open to 4am. And it's not very hard to find bars that lock the doors at 4am, and let the people stay and keep the party rolling. Realistically though, do you really want to still be drinking when the sun starts to come up? If so, you're probably still in your 20's (early 20's at that). I've left bars in NYC at 8am before (and God did I pay for that when I got up lol).
I've partied in Vegas, and NYC wins hands down! Everything from the local bar to the club scene.
Nyc has great night life but in many ways the night life in LV and NY offer different things so it's a matter of preference..
Your right. When you think about it, Las Vegas's party scene is basically the 'Strip'. And the Strip is basically a tourist trap (not saying locals don't drink there). Where in NYC, especially outside of Mannhattan, it's a 'real' scene. But I've been in the Hard Rock Cafe in Vegas at 5am or 6am, it's far from jumping at those wee hrs of the morning. I think that drinking in alot of those casinos can be VERY lame at times. It definitely doesn't feel like partying in a local bar in NYC.
But as I said before, "realistically", how many people, or how often, would you want to be still drinking at 6am? Most of the time, drugs are involved when people keep drinking til those hrs. Most people in their early to mid 30's, would be pretty satisified with a 4am "last call". Then go and grab something to eat and hit the sack before the sun rears it's ugly head (ya the sun under those conditions is VERY ugly! )
