I'm not sure if that's actually the case. Local news is reporting 160 homicides in Louisville for the year. Seems to be in line with the posted rate. Louisville hasn't recovered from the 2020 crime surge yet, and it certainly wasn't Mayberry prior to that unrest.

I'm getting a rate of 25/100k. That total is for Louisville Metro.

Yeah I don’t think the original Louisville rate posted is accurate. 25/100K seems more realistic though.

Yes I suppose that's true. I sometimes forget that stat applies to Louisville metro and not the original city boundaries where the overwhelming majority of those homicides occur.

I'm seeing 160 as well. News articles make it seem like it's for the city, although the homicides are from Louisville Metro PD. I don't know what to think at this point.

Highest amonst cities with 100K+ for the 2nd year. Yet it'sa 13% decline from 2021.

Flint, MI ended up with 39 homicides in 2022: link. A 42% decrease compared to 2021. With a population of 81,252, this gives a homicide rate of 48/100k.
