Yep. Just hit 50 for Pittsburgh. Very violent year.

That's unfortunate. I would think Cincinnati and Pittsburgh would be neck-and-neck right now.

That's surprising. I always though Minneapolis had very little violence. I am guessing things changed after George Floyd?

Wow. The far NW of Philly is very safe. Surprising that a teenager was murdered here.

Not that it makes it any better but a high percentage of students that attend Roxborough are not from that area of the city. It’s very likely that the shooter and the victims were from a much poorer and generally unsafe area.

George Floyd certainly didn't help and definitely create a huge shortage in Minneapolis PD. But Minneapolis was nicknamed "Murderapolis" for awhile...

Montreal's rate is slightly off as it reflects the city proper population, whereas the murder total is for the area patrolled by the SPVM, which covers the entire island (city proper + some other municipalities).

The city proper has about 1.75 million people, but the island (and SPVM territory) has about 2.1 million.

The murder rate is more in the range of 1.2 per 100,000.

If only US cities with a population of this size could have this number of per capita homicides...

Agreed. The U.S. is a very violent nation. San Diego and San Jose might be the only large (pop. 1,000,000+) cities that are "Canada safe" in terms of homicide rates.
