I remember reading that article and the 13 for N.O. was more like 6, as they had no idea that Gary was the "Murder Capital" 10 times, once in 1993, and nine years in a row from 1995-2003.

I know about Gary but I consider it in the small city category like Compton. E. Palo Alto also had the highest rate in 92 but I only consider major cities maybe 200k and above.

5 shot in North Miami two days ago, along with a shootout between a dad and her daughter's boyfriend in Opa-Locka. And another shooting at Haulover Beach over..... a fishing dispute. No deaths but still waiting for more news on the North Miami events.

Speaking of Montreal, is there any statistic for all the Canadian cities? Is Winnipeg still murder capital?

Indeed.

One thing I noticed about Camden, similar to Compton, is that African-American population is decreasing while Hispanic population is increasing, and with that the homicide number/rate greatly decreased. Can't say the same for Gary, E StL, or E Cleveland, though.

==============
For numbers - Baltimore at 249 as of this post...soon reaching 250 marks but homicides had definitely slow down lately as summer is over. Only 9 homicides in September so far, way down from that June/July peaks when there was basically a homicide every single day.

Not for 2022 yet, but for 2021 Regina was the city with the highest homicide rate per capita (5.67 per 100K)

https://www.statista.com/statistics/...opolitan-area/

I think for now Toronto is at about 2.2 per 100,000, the Island of Montreal is at about 1.2 per 100,000. Not too sure about the others though. MTL has seen a heavy spike in gun crimes and murders, 2021 had us at about 1.8 per 100K (the Island is roughly 2,025,000 people), which has been the worst year in about a decade.

St Louis is still at 137. Much quieter than in August where there was a homicide daily until the later portion of the month. The victim that was shot in Soulard is not officially declared dead he is still in critical condition
