That's not hype; it certainly happens. But it also just so happens that DC has some Black gentrifiers in the mix too.

Black Alone = 243,285
White Alone = 186,447

2010-2017 ATL Population (White vs. Black) Difference

Black Alone = +18,615 people
White Alone = +28,551 people

So DC proper in 61 sq. miles added more black people (+19,446) than Atlanta proper in 133 sq. miles (+18,615) contrary to popular belief. The difference is, DC is building way more in the city and growing way faster in the city than Atlanta.
Historically and even now DC's black community have generally been larger than Atlanta's black community. Matter of fact, DC had the largest black community in the U.S from 1880 to 1920.

no. because many black people do feel that Atlanta truly is the capital of Black America. Especially in todays time.

It seems like I just saw this poll like a couple of months ago and even though Atlanta had a nice lead it seemed a lot closer than this . I also have never seen a CD poll with this many votes period...... Anyway maybe I was mistaken and it was another similar poll I saw....

^ since this is a popularity poll, i actually find it suspicious that atlanta only has slightly more than half the votes. i expected it to be a landslide; however, most of the 100+ pages have thoughtful well evidenced counter-arguments.

also ironic, the metro with the largest black population has the fewest votes.

NYC doesn't have the fewest votes.

You said the metro with the largest Black population had the fewest votes. That's NYC. Largest =/= highest percentage.
