What is also ironic about the Harlem article is that Brooklyn still has the biggest predominantly black urban concentration in NYC.

the gender disparity in Brooklyn and Chicago is disturbing.

I wanted to focus on something different this time, which is younger Black professionals (ages 25-34) in central cities. Let's take a look at DC proper.

White - 72,997
Black - 13,926

So even though African Americans outnumber Whites overall by about 40,000 in the District of Columbia, younger Whites with a college degree or higher outnumber younger Blacks with a college degree or higher by nearly 60,000. The numbers will look even worse if we were to take proximity to Metro into account. The reality is that poor people aren't the only ones who often don't get to enjoy the benefits of the gentrified city. A lot of educated Black professionals miss out as well.

It's much worse in Charlotte. A young guy with his act together should be able to clean up down there.

Atlanta and DC are the co-capitals of Black America, which makes it odd that there are tons of places you can visit in their urban cores and see almost no Black people.
