And as far as DIY, my BMWs have bee the easiest to do oil changes on of any car. The canister filter is up on top and is not messy to change, and it takes about 15 minutes to do the complete oil change from jacking it up to putting the cap back on. Filters are about $15 from the local parts store or online.
Japanese Vehicles in General, quite boring and overhyped , not bad vehicles just never seen what is so great about them -What is so special about Honda and Toyotas - fair enough they might last a bit longer, maybe are more reliable overall than some European Cars,
Who cares if a vehicle is marginally more reliable than another, hasn't the quality of cars reached a saturation point - so keep your car for 15 years, so you prove its more reliable.
For me the most over rated brand is VW. I've never personally owned one as I was fortunate enough to steer clear of that fiasco but I have known dozen of people that have owned them and ever one has regretted their decision.

Ditto. My mothers New Beetle was a nightmare we couldn't wait to get rid of and my buddies GTI always had something wrong with it.
Lexus. For all the hype about them, just look at one going down the road. They don't favor much for what they're suppose to be. Barely more than a Toyota itself.

Just got an old GTI - Whilst I have always been a little anti volkswagen - pretty boring cars for the money paid - I must admit the GTI does drive brilliantly, the handling - its a pleasure to drive vs quite a lot of other cars
For me, BMW and Mercedes are absolutely not overrated. The way they handle, especially at high speed, is outstanding. Maybe they are overpriced, but if I could afford one, I wouldn't drive anything else.
I can't say that I find any of these brands as a whole "overrated". They all have/have had good and and bad vehicles.
I think a lot of the luxury brands are mad overpriced, especially the ones whose vehicles are, for the most part, little more than chromed and leathered up versions of their non-luxury counter parts with a different badge slapped on them.
In my opinion that's why brands like Lincoln and the like will never be at quite the same level as a brand like BMW. Different tier of luxury imo.

The drive feel wasn't the problem as it drove great and the interior was fantastic for its class. It's the constant electrical and mechanical problems that keep me away.
