My husband and I are looking to possibly retire in Myrtle Beach in 4-4 l/1 years. We have looked at some property (lots) to purchase off Rt. 707 Cypress River Plantations and the Carolina Forest. I believe the Forest is out as the traffic is horrible but would like to know how living in MB really is year round. Please help me out. Thank you.

You need to consider living in the Charleston area...places like Mount Pleasant, Daniel Island, West Ashley, Isle of Palms, James Island, etc. I thought about Myrtle Beach until I saw Charleston. I love it down here and only have been here for 3 months. Im never going back to Ohio! You can get about any type of atmosphere you want. Just my two sense. Good luck with your decision.

If you are narrow minded, bigoted, and ignorant, Myrtle Beach is for you! If you want a broad range of people, a decent education for your children, are ethnic (anything but white), and/or interested in decent conversation, intelligence, or culture, look elsewhere. I've yet to meet anyone single who was happy with the area - it's full of retired northerners, grifters, and gay men.

Consider Charleston, Raleigh, or Savanna if you insist on the south.

MB offers people your age tons of opportunities for employment, lifestyle and singles everywhere.

Charleston is a beautiful city but for a 28 year old it is not the best of choices I would not think.

Spent a week in MB and look around before deciding anything. You should be able to see if it fits your wants and needs in a weeks time.

I know many who work at one place during peak and another place during off peak.

MB is not as dead as it used to be in the winter.

We owned a condo in MB for years and got to know many young waitresses who were either around your age and love it in MB or going to college at Coastal Carolina.

I also agree with the idea of going a little south of MB for living. Murrells and Garden City areas are nice and not hard to get to for work and play.

If I was 28 and single that would be one of my top choices for sure.

Housing and employment would be your keys first and foremost.

Smile housing in myrtle beach

I.m trying to find out if two disabled seniors citizens can live together on a section 8 housing voucher in Myrtle Beach. I'm a disabled 62yr.old veteran who lives with a disabled 68yr.old disabled cancer survivor here in Oregon. Her doctor told her she should move by the ocean because it will help her breathe and her children live righr next door in Georgia. I can't get answers to the question if we can live together in Myrtle Beach on a voucher without being married. If anybody out there can find out or can give me a link to the housing authority, I'd be grateful. Greg Walker.

I really don't know anything about section 8 housing issues, but I looked it up for you and found this link, which I hope might be helpful.

I moved from Ohio 3 years ago, live in Surfside about 4 miles down from mb and it is family oriented, peaceful, quiet, fun and safe. my "GARDEN OF EDAN" I love it, plenty of jobs year round and anybody who says there isn't jobs is lazy and not looking, check out craigslist myrtle beach for jobs, housing etc and the schools in surfside are good.
hope you will love it to
