Hello,
My husband and I are planning to relocate to South Carolina in the next two years. In an ideal world we would love to end up in the Charleston area or Pawleys Island / Murrels Inlet. I am currently a teacher in Ohio with 10 years experience and my masters. Have I priced myself out of the teaching job market with too much experience and a masters? Any advice is appreciated...
Thanks!
Having 10 years of experience and a master's does not price one out of the job market. Only the salary one expects can price one out of the market. There are plenty of SC teachers who have similar experience and education. However, they may or may not make as much as a teacher in Ohio.
I am a teacher and horry county schools is a great place to work. You will be paid what your certificate from SC states. If you have ten years in Ohio and a masters you will be paid for that, but remember the salary will change with the cost of living. I moved from NJ, and while I took about a 17,000 pay cut - the house I will build would never be available to me back north.
As for the previous post, you will definitely not make what a teacher makes in ohio.
