im originally from Chicago myself (a big large midway city) and just moved to eastern kentucky. let me say it is very stressful for many reasons. and because of being stressful i seen alot of citizens turn to drugs. a huge drug problem in Eastern KY! its a shame that a beautiful place like Eastern KY is stressful.

Default Immaturity

I use these forums to try to get a feel for the areas that I am researching. When I run across posts such as these, it is very disheartening. None of the posts state anything that could be considered relevant to the state of Kentucky or California. These posts display ignorance on everyone's part. In every state, you will find an assortment of people, good, bad, hardworking, lazy, etc. My advice to all of you is mind your own business and if you don't have anything nice to say, don't say anything at all.

I am going to be moving my family (originally from Indiana) from Florida to Kentucky in 3 months. If anyone has relevant information regarding the Hopkinsville, Cadiz, and/or Princeton area, please do tell. I have a large family of 5 children. My husband is transferring to a higher position within his company and I am finishing up my Bachelor's Degree in Business Management. We would like to move to a small-medium size town with good family values. We would like to be active in a Christian church and would like to have a nice park and library to utilize. We want a friendly town with a low crime rate as well. If anyone has any information that may be helpful to our family, please do tell. Thank you very much!

^^"These posts display ignorance on everyone's part"

Everyone? I just stepped in because someone was posting false info about automotive air conditioning.

I believe my last sentence was "What does this have to do with the original topic?"

There are a few posters here whose only purpose is to run down Kentucky. You will soon learn who to ignore.

I know nothing about the area you're moving to but I suspect you will receive 'expert' opinions from others who likewise do not know that part of the state.

Good luck with your move.

Okay, so I try to get Kentucky to realize that having dialogue on issues that plague the state can help us correct those issues and more importantly help to compete with our surrounding states and I get called ignorant?

I am a native of Virginia and a resident of Kentucky's largest county of Jefferson. Are there lazy bad people in Virginia? Yes, I've come across many of them. But overall Virginia scores high in many areas that go into a overall quality of life, so that makes all the bad in Virginia a little easier to deal with. For example, Virginia has agressive traffic policing and a car/decal tax that is a pain but I get a lot in return for dealing with that.

Kentucky taxes are higher and I dont get a lot in return. Horrible allergy problems, Substandard public schools, mediocre roads. I'm sorry but Kentucky simply needs to get to fixing some things and stop trying to sweep them under the rug.

Default My apologies...

My sincere apologies to those people whom I offended. I think it was obvious to whom I was referring in my statement. It's just quite annoying to run across people trying to insult other people or places, especially when that person isn't even a resident of the place to which they are referring. I look for honest, intelligible information when I refer to these forums. I am only here to seek information to make the best decision for my family as far as our move. Again, my apologies.

Some had it coming.

As for me, no offense taken and no apologies necessary.

Hopefully someone will get you the info you are seeking.

Welcome to Kentucky.

Default Happy

I'm happy to hear that Kentucky is a good state for families and Christians. It honestly wasn't my first choice of places to move and have went back and forth about northern TN as an option as well. Where my husband goes, I must follow. I'm happy to hear that there are people who are happy in KY. Would be curious to know the small town you are speaking of in Western KY. We are looking around Cadiz, Princeton, Hopkinsville area. Thanks!
