Hello everyone,

Okay, So here it goes...We are currently from Michigan and my husband who works for Ford may be relocating to Louisville. However, we dont want to live there. We are looking for a town that is "safe" we do not want to live in a mini Detroit, with good public schools as we have 3 children and we would like to stay about 45 minutes east of Louisville. Any ideas would be great. Because, I have only been down to Monticello, Somerset area..which is beautiful..just too far for us, unfortunately.

Thank you all very much!

P.S.

You will find what widely regarded as Kentucky's best school system in Oldham County. Many Ford workers live here! I even drive a Louisville-built Ford Expedition with great pride, too!

You can live anywhere along I-71 from Carrollton to Louisville and be within your 45 minute drive-time.

There are no mini-Detroits in KY that I know of. You will love it here and Tom is right - look at Oldham County.

Oldham County arguably has the best countywide school system in Kentucky. Check it out.

Parts of Eastern Jefferson County north of Taylorsville Road and east of Zorn Avenue and Lexington Road, and especially east of the Watterson Expressway, may suit your needs to. However, make sure you contact Jefferson Co. Public Schools about districting and busing, it can get rather convoluted.

If you land in Jefferson County, you must understand that as a newbie, your children will be a the bottom of the "opportunity" list of school choices.

Have you already moved? If not, I know of a beautiful home in Oldham county that recently went on the market from friends of ours.

Yes, Oldham for the schools. If you didn't need the public schools, then Henry or Shelby or Spencer.
