A proper response, that kept the spirit of the targeted post, would require a lengthy treatise, going back to Old English and metathesis. However, the short response is "ax" is an alternative spelling of "axe."

My local post office had a sign apologizing for the inconvenience of their being closed on Monday. Wonder of wonders, they spelled "inconvenience" correctly!
But they were apologizing for being closed on "Independance Day".
Honestly, I understand autocorrect and all that, but damn! Doesn't anyone look before they hit enter or return or whatever??
I also understand the problems that can result from Autocorrect, but "riped" isn't actually a word.
Does Autocorrect substitute non-words for genuine words?
If so, then we are in for a huge volume of such nonsense in the future.

This is true. I think the future is here, and autocorrect has little to do with it.
"The organization serves communities in Tularosa, up threw High Rolls, Cloudcroft and May hill ... "
Granted that High Rolls is uphill, but I'd say it's more nestled than thrown. & May Hill is the full name, it's not just a hill with a name.
"Last year we had an increase in community volunteers and this year were working to increase the community volunteers ..."
Instead of were, I think the writer meant we're. Curse you, autocorrect!
