I hate it when people wear their fireplace trim, or dress their fireplace in cloaks.
Similarly, I am irked by people who complain that their car "shutters" under certain circumstances.
I usually suggest that they check the car's siding, as well as its shutters.

I wouldn't really think twice about it if I seen someone wearing them.

You know what happens when a word is overly misused - mantle is accepted as a variant spelling of mantel.

I'm glad to have found this thread.

I couldn't possibly read all the posts, so mine may have already been covered.

Am I the only one getting tired of the misusage of it's vs its, and your vs you're? It's spreading in other ways, too, I see things like "I love my dog's"--your dog's WHAT, exactly? Or they say "We're going to look at some house's."

It's considered bad form, I don't know why that's the case, but regardless I sometimes actually correct these things when I see them, even on people's own posts on their own page. I especially hate it when people say things like "it doesn't matter, you know what they're saying." I'm sorry, but I think getting such things correct DOES matter, it's called having an education and using it and not appearing ignorant or slothful. Heck, I use proper writing even in my text messages, right down to not skipping punctuation and capitalizing the first word of a sentence and the like.

And this answer was given:

They went to school. They where homeschooled.

This poster also has something to add to the conversation:

What's wrong with home schooling... Thats known for producing really knowledgable inteligent student.. Its one on one education.
