Hearing him speak would obviously help. However, accents and dialects are two different things. Dialects include the choice of words, word order and usage of regional colloquialisms. Thus they can be detected in a written post, an essay or a letter to a friend. I have a degree in linguistics and a long career as a writer. While that poster obviously frustrates you ...he intrigues me.

When some people can't take it anymore... a linguist wants more!
