Yeah Worthing is looking like our best option, and it's only 10 mins from Brighton.
Have you noticed any difference in the weather yet?

Well it's certainly more humid on the south coast, and the nights are noticeably warmer. I noticed when you lose the sea breeze in Brighton, it can be very uncomfortable. It doesn't help that there's hills everywhere either, it's easy to work up a sweat!

uh thats true, hills are very tiring. i felt so sweaty that i bought a new t-shirt in town, went to mcdonalds toilet to get changed and then felt a bit better lol
Brighton is awesome isn't it! I'm looking at houses just outside Brighton, maybe Hove or towards Worthing.
It's just so expensive to buy there, £300K will get me nothing really.
It's a shame my missus doesn't want to live in York, I'd have an enormous house!
That'd be $450k for a house - that's insane! Exactly what size house would you get for that kind of moola? And what makes Brighton special - when all of the UK is surrounded by ocean?
Here, $450k would get you a very large home in a nice, close-in neighborhood, on a big lot, perhaps up to an acre in size, on a quiet street. A more typical home in the close-in suburbs usually runs about $250k (3-4 bedrooms, 2 baths, normal size 1/4 acre lot, etc), and in the "lower quality" neighborhoods, you can still buy a decent-sized home for $100k. Guess us Americans are spoiled with home prices, huh?

Or at Georgian residents are. Not all the US is that cheap.
I suspect 1/4 acre lots would be considered very large in the UK, detached homes are in the minority (I think).
