Woke up this morning to it feeling like early fall outside. Temp is 60, gusty, dew point 47. High today is 71. This weeks temps are crazy when you remember it's mid JUne. Lows down to 51, highs remain in the low 70's. I'm NOT complaining, it feels GREAT outside but it's rather bizarre for northern Arkansas in mid June.

Lots of rain here yesterday. Not constant but off and on. When it did rain, it rained pretty hard. Officially we had over an inch of rain at my house. On the other side of town, the NWS office didn't record near that much. Now for a couple of mainly dry days, then a day of rain, then much below normal temps only in the mid-60s on Thursday! We are going down to Holiday World and Splashin' Safari in southern Indiana next Monday and I'm honestly worried it won't be warm enough, in mid-June, to be at the water park! Still, despite how unsummerlike it seems, we are technically over 2 degrees above normal on the month so far.

6/9/2019 in Indianapolis:
Overcast with occasional rain.
High: 75F.
Low: 67F.
Average: 71F.
1F above normal.

Precipitation: 0.65 inches.

Today: Gradual clearing. High 70F.
Tonight: Partly cloudy. Low 51F.
Tomorrow: Sunshine. High 78F.

Today's Normal High: 81F.
Today's Normal Low: 61F.
Record High: 96F set in 1933 and 1911.
Record Low: 44F set in 1988 and 1913.

Sunrise: 6:16 AM
Sunset: 9:12 PM

I'll be in Florida in a couple of weeks.

Text book Positive PNA in June show widespread cool temps for the eastern two thirds which is what the analogs show and the latest CFSv2.

June will probably go down as one of the coolest months here since at least 2000.

So Modoki El Nino sticking around for the summer? Maybe beyond that? That will make it a 2 year El Nino.

RIP ski season 2019-20. The PNW will never manage a cold/wet winter again, will it?

You Pacific Northwest natives had a cold wet winter in 2016-2017 and 2017-2018 did you not? Us Midwest folks probably won’t ever see any more mild winters let alone even winters with average temperatures, poor Midwest, the last “Balmy” winter we had was way back in 2011-2012, and even then, it wasn’t even as balmy as the winter seasons 1997/1998 or 2001-2002 were. More like RIP mild Midwest winters

. Looks like the Midwest is doomed to perpetual subarctic winters from now on. Damn climate change

2017-18 was warmer and drier than average if I’m not mistaken.

2016-17 was impressive, but winters like those are rare.

Unfortunately, the Pacific Northwest has seen prolonged dry periods before. From 1985 to 1994 not a single calendar year had above average precipitation in Portland, and only three calendar months during those 10 years finished with 7” or more of precipitation.

Portland being a very wet climate is a myth. Take it from someone who actually lives here. The Coast Range and Cascade foothills are truly wet, but the lowlands? Not so much. The occasional aberration like 2016-17 doesn’t change that.

No coincidence that the dry times in the Pacific Northwest also coincided with some of the most brutal cold waves in Indianapolis weather history , starting from 1985 and ending in 1994, Indianapolis logged several low temperatures during the winter seasons from 1985-1994 which were at or below -20 F (-29 C); those years were also less reliable in terms of adequate growing season precipitation overall.
