Prior to that major snowstorm in eastern US already mentioned, northern Mexico will face a cold snap with likely the first snow of the season in the highlands of that country.

Good call guys.
While NAM is nuts.. all others are showing it as well.
NWS Lake Charles is mentioning the small possibility of a flake or two if ECMWF is correct.

.PREV DISCUSSION... /issued 351 PM CST Tue Dec 5 2017/
DISCUSSION...A Canadian front continues to push southeast across
the area this afternoon. A modest line of thunderstorms has been
accompanying the boundary with light to moderate rain trailing.
Rain chances will decrease gradually as the front departs through
early evening, however lift will increase late tonight into
Wednesday as a series of disturbances pass the area. Much colder
temperatures will also filter into through tonight. Rain, wind,
and much colder temperatures will make for a raw day across the
region Wednesday. Temperatures are expected to generally hold
steady or slowly fall into the upper 30s during the afternoon.
Chilly with occasional showers can be expected again Thursday and
Thursday night.
Finally by Friday moisture gets shoved east of the area as a
strong short wave rounds the base of the large trough. A bit of
difference exists between the global models on when the
precipitation exits the area and exactly how cold it will be. If
moisture sticks around long enough, like the ECMWF, there may be
a very slim opportunity to mix in a wet flake or two during the
morning, however where precip occurs temperatures are expected to
be above freezing. The GFS on the other hand pushes precip out
early enough that this is not an issue. Have opted to keep a
chance/slight chance of rain in for now, and no -snra in the
morning.
Drier weather is expected for the weekend, however cool
temperatures will linger through early next week.
I can see from your satellite image that the split in our sky is due to that same front, strangely stretching from coast to coast!
Latest infrared Satellite and radar.. The rain in Mexico and Maine is from the same front? At least Texas and Maine for sure. Not sure if its raining in Mexico. Pretty cool!
And BTW.. Been a while since I posted this... That moisture is being fed from the Pacific... aka "Sub Tropical Jet Stream". Keep that active and the Polar Jet stream and we'll keep having snow chances in the U.S.
So..... when was the last time snow missed you to your SOUTHEAST...in December? lol I still doubt this. NAM is nuts.
Snow missed Alexandria to the south on December 11, 2008. 6 inches of snow were recorded at two locations in south LA! I think there were some flakes in Alexandria, but I was up in north LA at that time.

A quick spell of heavy rain hit us in the last hour, dropping 1.78mm of rain officially at Sky Harbor International Airport, making today the first day of measurable rain since August 23rd! So the dry streak went 103 days!
NAM has always done this. This is the same model that predicted 8 inches of snow back in January 2014 when in reality ended up being just a light freezing rain/sleet mix.
Today's high temperature in Athens, GA was 67°F, and the cold front has just passed through, so there's a chance that the temperature won't reach 70°F here this December. If so, then it'd be the first December since 2010 without a 70°F day.
The forecast high for Thursday got lowered into the 30s. Interesting (it was 50F just a couple days ago).
