I wish more meteos would mention the "why's" but I think many want you to pay for their services for that kind of info. I know Steve D (NYNJPA Weather) sometimes does but when I was interning for him I was getting free school lessons. He knows his stuff. But you wouldn't get his discussions unless you paid through a membership.

Point is... Something has to be changing in the Pacfic, Arctic, or Atlantic for us to get that Jet to dip down in Eastern U.S. I have a feeling the Southeast ridge is one player just not giving up. Another is maybe the Greenland blocking or lack of? Another would be the configuration of the Jet at the northern Latitudes? Polar Vortex too weak or not south enough? Something has to change and asap! lol
Agreed. I'll accept this if it prevents another warm and wet winter like last year but that's it! It actually seems like each change is getting warmer and warmer for us and colder and deeper cold out west! No fair! We've literally had 3 record high minimums in a row here! (63,68,68)

Believe it or not, the pattern we were getting over Summer would of meant early freezes, snow and cold all the time for us for Fall... It just unfortunately decided to switch. Then again, maybe we were fortunate because that Summer pattern prevented many heat waves and prolonged hot humid temps. So guess was good.. But....

I'm still waiting for that "Step Down" pattern into Fall. Can't wait for September.

My lows last 6 days (normal is 40s)

Yeah same. Our average low for Oct 10th is 43° so we have been 20-25 above average. We're running 13 above for the month for the first 10 days

We did get our first frost and freeze the first of the month tho, such a tease.

GFS had hinted a big cool down coming past 10 days but it just keeps disappearing in time. At this point seasonal will feel cold

Don't get it. Your dews are almost in the 50s now (60) yet you're sweating? Sure the sun is hot but temps are only in the 60s this morning.

Your comment to this is what's confusing me with your comment from this morning.. High 60s dews is cozy for you but upper 50s/low 60s you're sweating? Clouds vs Sun bother you more than humidity? Not me. Dews control my life.

Cloudy but ultra-mild now. The wind feels softer than silk
