Last winter was far from normal. I'd even welcome an average winter after going through that arctic mess, although I'm still rooting for above normal.

What storm off the coast? Spin it baby. Notice winds are calm in the center of the storm.

Polar disturbance on left of map. Had it been at the coast just 6hrs earlier this could of been a snowstorm for all.

Watch the wind field in motion with link.

Current map..

1. Try to use your vision. Orange lines are the Jet stream heights at 20,000+ feet. The circle is the Upper Level low that has closed off (a storm above), that will swing across and go on top of the NorEaster.

2. Freezing line at 4000 feet pushed north past MA but digging down to Atlanta. So it's below freezing in the mountains down there.

3. Coastal storm has a +10c warmth near the core. (yellow spot), we had no chance with this one being all snow, there was too much warm air being pushed north. Could of been a nasty historic widespread ice storm but models never indicated that plus surface air wasn't that that cold.

4. No pink colors in the U.S... There is no extreme or worthy cold to talk about., nor heat either in the East
