A look at the 500mb heights and 850mb temps.

Clearly see the Tongue of below freezing temps aloft from Canada down to Gulf States. The edge of blues (0C) is the cold front edge slowly moving East.

At 5000 feet above Mobile, Alabama its 32F/0C. Over Burlington Vermont its 51F/11C

This will help understand why its so warm at the surface. Temps aloft are crazy to be over 9C this time of year north of Philly.

570 Heights? That's Spring time stuff. The return flow is interesting. Strong 988mb low over Death Lakes giving us the southern flow..

I noticed we spiked warmer when the rain stopped here. Rain was cooling the air. Rain come back! LOL!

Yes, stellar logic. Their climate is different from yours, so they must be deprived.

Give me a break...

Wow you guys have very clearly defined squall lines. Whenever a squall line passes through here, it's three-times wider than that and not completely red/orange on radar.

It's unusual to see them that narrow. They're usually much wider and dissipate before they get this far south.

In Rhode Island. 64 hit before midnight. Feels like a June night out there.

...RECORD HIGH TEMPERATURE SET AT PROVIDENCE RI...

A RECORD HIGH TEMPERATURE OF 64 DEGREES WAS SET AT PROVIDENCE RI YESTERDAY. THE HIGH WAS REACHED AT 1118 PM AT NIGHT ON CHRISTMAS EVE. THIS BREAKS THE OLD RECORD OF 60 DEGREES FOR DECEMBER 24 SET BACK IN 1990.

Did there used to be a bright yellow object in the sky? I forgot what it looks like because just about all I've seen for weeks is gray or milky gray mist or rain. Ugh!

What do blue skies look like lol?

Right now is one of those rare instances where NYC is warmer than Brownsville, New Orleans, Phoenix, and LA. WTF

Caribou, ME is at 50 degrees (nearly same as Phoenix and Vegas)!?

At least they're still cooler than Miami
