Through 7 PM, 2.9" had fallen at Regan National and 7.1" at Dulles. Typical difference during winter storms? lol. Congrats to DC snow lovers though, first decent event in 3 years.

More like an early/late season storm or many marginal storms, i.e. where the rain/snow line divides the DC metro area. The Veterans' Day 1987 storm saw far more at DCA than IAD, for example. In addition, the [low] temperature gap between the two should continue to narrow; the AAMT at DCA increased from 8.1F in 1966–95 to 9.9F for 1981–2010, while at IAD the increase was from 2.3F below to 0.5F. IAD has not been subzero since Feb 1996 but up until 1994 had a greater than 50% chance of dropping that low in any given year.

Next Tuesday.... Deep Purple over me.

Don't worry week two, the party still going on

Hit 0F/-18C at ORD and 2F/-17C at MDW in Chicago this morning.

Latest forecast has 5 additional below zero (-18C) nights for ORD. If this happens that would bring our seasonal total to 18 days at or below zero. Just 7 away from the all time official record for the city of Chicago.
