Nice pic! My hands felt kinda cold today with the cold rain, even if the temp stayed in the 33-40°F range. I own gloves despite the mild climate, but seldom use them here.
Euro windchill map at noon CET
Up north, temp at 7 pm Stockholm time. Wind chills down to the -40s already in Lapland
great images all, thanks! They were a bit off on our forecast today, the -35 wind chills were not to be had, it was less windy today and got up to 9F. The GFS temp map was waaay closer to actual than forecasted.
I believe Houston and Texas have winter storm watches out tonight. But their criteria is lower than most so probably some sleet or ice tonight.
Also noticed Florida with freeze warnings again. Not sure what their criteria is but once we go below freezing here they stop issueing those alerts. I assume they don't stop for Florida?

They are issued in Florida anytime it falls below freezing because the "growing season" is year-round.
That map should show Philadelphia, as it's been perhaps the most impressive. Cambium posted earlier today that Philly's snowfall total is 33 inches, compared to 7.7" average to date. More than Minneapolis.
Wow, Canadian dropping the Arctic hammer on us. Says we are in for -25 to -35F (-32 to -37C) a week from today
More snow coming by the weekend
Btw
MDW currently has 44.8 inches of snowfall this winter. ORD has 44.1 inches
Oh damn. If that is forecast using current snow cover (there will be a good deal of melting this weekend), widespread subzero cold will not materialise in VA/MD east of I-81, not unless the core of the cold is shifted much further east.

Yes, the cold front is tapping in moisture from the Pacific or the Gulf, making it possible for some light sleet in San Antonio, Austin, and maybe the western suburbs of Houston. Dallas is dry, but very cold, and coastal Houston down to South Texas just sees rain.
