This is one bitter cold morning. Temps dropped way lower than what the forecast advised. We ended up down to -15F this morning and it's made it up to -13F so far. After getting pummeled by the lake effect yesterday the sky cleared out last night and it made for a beautiful morning, but bone chilling cold.

I know these models change all the time, but I really hope this happens. December 1989 to February 1990 was like this. The pattern and weather turned on a dime right around New Years Eve.

This is why it is fun to drive south in the winter.

You go from winter to summer in around a couple days driving.

In about 12 hours time you have arrived into springtime.

And in about 12 more hours of driving you get a little summer (September weather by Philly standards).

Not a good day for this cold weather fan.... having our west wind now at warming to around 25 making me quite irritable and depressed with the sun. Warmest day this month.

I'm with you, tv; it got really frigid waaay too early this year. 16 F and 10 MPH gusts out today. I can't even put my horses out, the wind is bad for them.

I can't fathom what it is to be you. This cold has me going crazy.

It is just a mood thing with me....always been that way. I grew up in Kentucky and hated it there (weather and people) and always dreamed of living north. I loved weather and luckily followed that passion to today job wise... but when growing up I would cut out snowflakes to hang in my room in the summer and had blinds to keep the sun out. Just wasnt my thing as I sweated a lot....my outdoors was in the cooler season. Kentucky winter isnt really a winter....just a long fall.

I was always this way, I dont ice fish nor snowmobile a lot like folks here, but is it more of a mood-happiness issue with me.... the shorter daylight hours and colder weather just make me feel better. I realize I am not the norm....

I guess to me my work and lifestyle is the same more or less in the summer as in winter. My boys love to play baseball so that is something I enjoy with them in the summer....but unfortunately cannot tolerate the 80 or higher degree days well.
