Those are some crazy numbers for accumulation! Hopefully we get some of that up here!

They are calling for 8-16 inches for Vermont. Most of the storm looks like there will be a big coastal impact. My brother-in-law (in Mass) is supposed to get about two feet or more. We may lose some of it by Monday with a mild warm-up predicted.

NWS hasn't upgraded us to a warning yet. Boo. I'm hoping we get the higher end amounts that are predicted!
I have family on the North Shore of Mass and they are all stressed out-gotta run to the store to get bread and milk don't you know!

Just want to apologize again for not being in here. We have a Blizzard warning down here now. You can always check here to see my latest updates on this historic storm. I learned in the past when I spread myself too thin I get headaches, so I figure to just use one thread. lol

Been consulting Cambium's posts in the CT thread here, they're much appreciated esp. the maps/graphics
I'll stay tuned so long as I have electricity...

Regardless of how much or how little snow actually falls/piles up, what struck me from being out in it (in a car, then on foot) a few hours ago is the wind.
It causes any snow cleared to zip right back to where it was-it just flies back in your face.
Can't gauge how much snow has fallen so far because it's not accumulating "flat" (evenly)-this way leaves nearly bare areas and deep pockets in other areas.
It's the drifting that'll get 'ya...

Snow started here around 10:30 or 11 a.m. and many events/schools were closed/cancelled. People were driving slowly on the roads by the time I went out around 1 p.m.
Can only see couple inches of snowfall on (my informal measure) the NW-facing fire escape railing/platform out the window.
The wind-forecast overnight to be 20mph with gusts in the 30's-leaves a misrepresentation of how much snow is actually out there on streets/sidewalks.
As always with intense weather, I hope the power doesn't go out.

Look forward to seeing the snow tomorrow & how much there is-though the high winds are predicted to continue through the day, and may impact visibility/thwart measurement.

Just checked another informal measure, the intersection on hill next to the house, saw/heard a car barely make it through-
it's obviously several inches of snow in street, cars are likely to get stuck (and then have to back down the road).
Wind is starting to increase, and power did flicker a couple times.

I saw a lot of school buses everywhere in Orleans county today, so it was business as usual. I would guess 3-5" around here. No wind to speak of either.

The predictions the local weather reporters gave had us as expected. The Burlington area had less than 10 inches while the more south and east you went had higher accumulation. The Northeast Kingdom had as little as 3 inches. Down neat my brother in CT they had about 3 feet with drifts as high as 7 feet. Crazy numbers.
