That said she's very "adult" and I'm not sure CBS is ready for that.
See I think that the adult humor is the smallest issue. Lots and lots of comedians are very vulgar in certain situations. That doesn't mean that they can't clean up their act when the situation changes. Chris Rock hosted the Oscars. Robin Williams can be impossibly crude. Tim Allen had an adult standup act, and he became a Disney star.
I think executives don't care about adult humor. They are more worried about broad based humor.
But as we all know, all those NBC executives who brag about the $3 billion dollars that Seinfeld has secured in 5 rounds of syndication may very well be the same type as the NBC executives who treated the show in it's early stages as you would a scared skunk.
I think this is a good move; The Colbert Report was funny but premise was getting very stale, and the major networks desperately need an infusion of creativity for the late-night genre. Surprised Craig Ferguson didn't get the nod, still.
