Its clear to me. Letterman was a flaming liberal and he let it show.

He even said, when interviewed, that there was "more to make fun of" with Republicans. Beyond that, he was a mean-spirited old geezer. He sure didn't leave at the top of his game.

13.76 Million Viewers who watched the Letterman finale say otherwise.

Far more impressive than Bush's final approval rating:

Let's see. . .Dan Quayle. . .was there a day that went by when he didn't do or say something that didn't scream make fun of me? During the Clinton administration Bill was his primary target. Bush II - Letterman swung between W & Cheney. Good lord, Conan used to use a graphic of Darth Vader when he brought up Cheney. Biden has been his main target during the Obama administration. Biden isn't stupid like Quayle, but he's a wealth of weird & quirky - very much a product of the region that he's from.

I'm a registered independent. I'm fair game to vote for either side. I see Washington as full of mean-spirited Republicans who look down on people who aren't wealthy & some Democrats who go too far in the opposite direction in a desire to be helpful. I suspect that Letterman is an independent.

Letterman went after Romney in the last election because Romney refused to come on his show. He said it on the air. That's not conjecture on my part.

In spite of raking Bill Clinton over the coals for 8 years, Clinton came on Letterman's show many times & was a good guest. John McCain has also been on many times. The only time that Letterman went after McCain was when McCain cancelled at the last minute & lied about the reason. He was caught in the lie. He apologized & that was it. He came on many times after that.
