There is a map but he didn't provide a direct link.

New apartments to start in Dallas’ West End later this year | Dallas Morning News

Another example of how Dallas' planning and foresight (with DART) has helped to promote development of another downtown TOD.

One of the larger projects is being built on Richardson's Telecom Corridor. The State Farm regional facility is on 186 acres, costs $1.5B, and includes 1.5M sqft of office space. Three towers will be located on DART's Red Line and plans will also include 1,000 residences, a 150 room hotel, and nearly 100,000 sqft of retail space.

Here's the webcam.

3700 Mckinney is a 20 story 400 apartment tower located in West Village, an extremely urban and walkable area. The density is incredible.

Here's their webcam.

It vanishes, it's a mirage, it doesn't exist, it's just a creation of the lack of zoning. Buildings spread out and about throughout the vastness of Houston city limits.

Dallas on the other hand doesn't seem as big from a distance when compared to Houston. But when you approach it, it is huge and continuous. You can actually go into the city that you saw from afar and get lost in it.
you do realize that is Uptown Houston in the 8th picture..? funny how big our Uptown is compared to the little couple square mile uptown Dallas. even with everything so spread out it still looks dense from afar. i will give you that, uptowns density is more of a mirage, but its getting plenty of new infill. i can think of at least a hand full of 30ish story towers going up over there. not to mention the rest of uptowns proposals. downtown however is very real, and is just as dense when your driving down one of the main streets through downtown as it appears from the surrounding areas.

the almost NYCesque mirage you speak of..

downtowns REAL density..

some much needed retail incentives are coming to downtown, along with the renovations of GreenStreet/Houston Pavilions.. it also calls for a 20ish story hotel built on top of GreenStreet. the thousands of new residents that will be moving in with all of the new residential projects around downtown should appreciate this district. hopefully it will turn into a sort of touristy shopping hub too with all of the new hotels around downtown. its about time we start bringing visitors back into the city. unfortunately the plan does not involve renaming that horrible named street.

Retail District Planned for DT Houston, to be centered around Dallas St.

City officials and local real estate developers, appointed by the mayor to help jump-start downtown retail, are proposing using tax dollars to help create a new shopping district in the city center.

Their hope is to transform a portion of downtown into a vibrant commercial hub with national, regional and local retailers operating amid sidewalk cafes in a pedestrian-friendly environment.

The additional activity would be centered around Dallas Street but likely expand to other parts of downtown, they said.

The plan would involve providing financial incentives to property owners within about a 20-block area who add retail tenants to their buildings or vacant parcels of land, according to members of the Downtown Retail Task Force who discussed the plan with the Houston Chronicle editorial board Thursday.

"This is a bold concept and initiative," said Ed Wulfe, a veteran retail developer and task force member. "It's not going to be easy."

The group envisions Dallas Street as the "spine of a shopping district" that would extend from Milam to LaBranch. Dallas was selected because of its proximity to properties that support retail: the George R. Brown Convention Center, office buildings, and hotels and residential buildings - more of which are under development.

The group also cited existing downtown retail in the Shops at Houston Center and GreenStreet, the former Houston Pavilions, as key to expanding the shopping district and adding more stores and restaurants to their properties.

***

On one side of the street, outdoor cafes are shown lining the three-block GreenStreet development and a new high-rise has been added to the property that task force members said is a proposed hotel. Across the street, a major retailer occupies the ground floor of the Sakowitz Building, currently used for parking.

Officials said they are still determining how the financial incentives would be structured, but they likely would be tax reimbursements paid to the property owners after the stores are open. The program would be limited to retailers who sell items such as clothing and "hard-good" merchandise. Restaurants and bars would not be included.

Ideally, new shops would begin to open in July 2015.

Houston has a nice skyline. I lived in midtown in some corporate apartments for a few months last year.
Houston downtown is very boring. It's truly a 9-5 city. But they do have an awesome galleria mall, not sure of its name. It is enormous. But I think Dallas have one too.
