Houston's skyline looks fake in person to me (in a good way). It can't be described.

When are either one of these cities gonna build another super tall? Seems like they've been a bit stagnant in that regard. It'd be nice if they could get the tallest building west of the Mississippi.

Of course, I'd rather the density and entertainment districts in the core be improved to first class level.

In the US, only Chicago and NY are aggressively building supertalls.
Houston had about 20 more planned for the 80s but the economy crash put them on hold indefinitely and most are now open lots

Probably never. Corporations seem to be dead set on moving to sprawled out campuses out in the crappy suburbs around Houston and Dallas

I guess because all the California transplants, just loved there suburbs out Cali so much they want to move to a reloville just like the one they left. Then they complain it's nothing like the one back home...

Houston is the only city in the state with supertalls. hopefully more will be built in the next decade or so. Houston had a few planned right before the market crashed in 08 and i feel like this new found focus on building up density in the core will create demand for another in the future as more people move back into the city and want jobs close to home, with good public transportation.. not some campus far out in the suburbs, like the current trend is now.

lol! I agree... i can quickly think of at least 10 mid to large size cities that have downtowns smaller than the world renowned TMC. HECK, i've been to decent size cities that barely competes with the few buildings in Greenspoint.. lol!

According to HtownLove, Downtown Houston is larger than both Downtown & Uptown Dallas combined. Houston's TMC alone could go toe to toe with Downtown Dallas for office space.

According to Grubb Ellis DTD has 27M sq feet of Office Space UTD has 10M together that 37M.
TMC has 46M Facts & Figures | Houston, Texas USA | Texas Medical Center
DTH has 56M

While Houston hasn't had any "supertalls" since the 1980's, its had lots of 600, 500, 400, & 300 footers go up within the past decade. Most US cities would be lucky just to get one of those.
