To make it worse, the whole week was fairly cheesy and basic-cable looking especially coming after the very slick (and major broadcast network) Kimmel show from Austin.

I do think Conan and Andy are funny, I just wish when these folks come to Texas they would just do a good show and not have to go over the top with giant boots and cowboy hats. It just makes the whole thing look gimmicky and makes the city look unsophisticated. And I realize Kimmel did this too when in Austin.
oh wow, that is quite sad and embarrassing (and sort of a reality check) to the people of Dallas. no one ever comes to Houston and writes cheesy songs about how Houston is way better than Dallas. probably because (like you said) its an infatuation the people of Dallas have with Houston, or a "rivalry" as Dallasites prefer to call it. unfortunately for Dallas that "rivalry" isnt seen as such by the people here in Houston (yeah, bring your little brother Ft Worth into the mix to try and even things out.. real cute... thats like Minneapolis bringing St Paul into the argument trying to say they are better than San Diego [together, the twin cities metro population is slightly higher than San Diegos pop, just like DFW to Houston].. but we all know thats a load of crap).

.......Conan. has nothing to do with or represent Dallas in any kind of way. His show is horrible and his presentation was HIS observations of Houston not ours. And if we(dallasites) are sooo infatuated with Houston then how do you explain the website CREATED to bash Dallas by houstnians????...TO ME. ..that's even worse than the Conan skit because it was actually made by Houstonians. ......Just let it go guys.

dont act like Dallasites have never made a website or written an article about Houston.

Article About How Much Better Houston is Than Dallas Neglects to Mention Houston is the ******* of the Universe | Dallas Observer

the difference here is that millions of people around the country saw how pathetic Dallas looked compared to Houston when Conan sang that song. only a couple thousand Houstonians probably saw the Houstonias webpage (and even so, most of the stuff on there was actually true, unlike Conans fake rants to please the people of Dallas). the "rivalry" is cool and all.. but dont act like youve suddenly won something just because your underused light rail system is longer, your convention center is larger, and your airport is busier. there are a boat load of things in Houston that are better (and much more relevant) than Dallas. thats just the way of being the bigger, more economically important, and superior city goes.. no need to bash Houston for being number 1. i dont see LA or Chicago bashing NYC for being number 1. sure there is a "rivalry" between them, but we all know who comes out on top...

I took Conan's Wikipedia song as a joke, and it didn't bother me personally at all. Years ago he had a funny skit where he went to Houston late at night to see who was watching his show. It turns out that few people were, so maybe he's still holding a little grudge.

As for the rivalry, it's time for Dallasites and Houstonians to stop with the innocent acts. It comes from both sides.

true.. if we were talking metros and Ft Worth were involved then yes, the rivalry comes from both sides. if were just talking about cities though, there is no "rivalry".

heh. i dont think there is much of a "rivalry" with Houston vs Dallas. Houston metro vs DFW, on the other hand, is a much better comparison..
