it just seems like there was way too much oversight for the Dallas project and it was all really just about a toll road... i agree Dallas couldnt do something to the scale of the Ft Worth project, but i was replying to dallasbois claim that Dallas' project was way better (and with more amenities) than the "smaller" Ft Worth project.

Just for clarification....Dallas can't do it because the way the river is positioned in the city.

Trinity River projects (both used as flood protection projects):

Dallas = parks, greenspace, new (overpriced) bridges/tolls, trails, nature center

Fort Worth = Urban Lake, canals, River Walks, creation of a new Uptown area/island... basically expanding downtown to twice its size.

Fort Worth's Trinity River project seems better and more vital probably because it's much more needed than what Dallas is doing. Dallas already has plenty and building at a faster rate, so comparatively, they really don't NEED to do anything with the Trinity. They just are because... that's just what Dallas does.

Fort Worth is pretty much revitalizing 17 neighborhoods in the city, and the area directly north of downtown is one of them. West 7th and the Near Southside are also part of those revitalized neighborhoods that are currently transforming or have already transformed, successfully.

it doesnt matter.. the point was, dallasboi was singing false praises of Dallas again when the Ft Worth project is clearly superior.

I really like Fort Worth's plan...but Dallas already has an area similar to what they want to build (minus the canals)

Which is kind of the reason why people say it's better.

One city is creating and adding something to the area that the people aren't used to. The other city is building MORE than what it really needs.

And some of that is also just Dallas hate, but you know the deal. I say our project is better, but you know why.
