As far as Houston vs Dallas.... dumb argument. These days, the two cities are too similar, basically like sibling cities.
I have traveled across the country and I don't think I've once been "snubbed" when I've told someone I'm from Dallas. If someone is getting snubbed, it's probably a personality issue as opposed to a geographic one.

This is the weakest argument I hear over and over from people. This is what makes Houstonians (you being a rep of the city) sound jealous. I guarantee if y'all were doing the same thing y'all'd be singing its praises.

Imo I agree with some posters who have said there is lil difference between the two cities.

I agree that there is little difference between the two metros, but what is there to be jealous of?

Nah man. There is absolutely no reason why that bridge should be under construction right now. It literally is a bridge to nowhere because on the other side of the Trinity, there is nothing. Instead, that money should have been used to fix up either the I-30 or I-35 bridge. Seems like Dallas is doing it more for show than anything. Talking about doing things for show though, they need to stop with the cheesy light animations on the Reunion Tower and just keep it all lit. It looks like a cheap imitation of Vegas when they go through those animations (I see it every night after work).

You realize that's part of the reason for building it--to develop that area and build it up. And there are already plans for redoing the other bridges. Of course the bridge is partly for show--all architecture is partly for show...lol.

I know there are plans to build the other ones, but those should have been done first, in my opinion. And I'm sure there are plans to develop the other side, though I've never seen any. Can you post some?

If money and traffic issues weren't an object, I would agree. However, this first bridge is actually a whole new bridge so it doesn't have a major impact on traffic such as redoing the I-30 or I-35 bridges will. The bridges are all a part of the Trinity River Project. The plan is for parks and low to mid rise developments on the other side of the river. I've got an artist's rendering of it that I've seen in mind but I wasn't able to find the one I was thinking of at first glance. I'll keep looking.

Dallas really needs to figure out what exactly they want built with that thing. Didn't they scrape the Trinity River Tollway because it was seen costing too much, for doing too little? Would like to see the renderings though. Houston has similar plans in the Buffalo Bayou Redevelopment, and it has been moving along, slowly, but still moving (new pedestrian bridges, landscaping, lighting, etc.).

i'm sure some of them would. but take it from an outsider; those "bridges" are nothing to be jealous of. they're pointless

And that's a weak counterargument i hear from Dallasites. Houston is doing a similar thing with the pedestrian bridges and the Buffalo Bayou plan, but its to a lesser degree and not as expensive. The TRP is a vanity project, period.
