Kudos to all American athletes, no matter how they finished. As long as they gave it their best.

This site provides an interesting perspective:

Olympic Medals per Capita

They have quotas for each country.
If there is no limit, America could have won much more medals in gymnastics, and China could have won all medals in ping pong, etc. So the per capita count is unfair.

I purposely didn't read all of the thread so I couldn't see information from posters about athletes' results. We have been recording the Olympics on our DVR and seem to have missed a lot of the Gymnastics broadcasts. Also, even though we recorded all of the programming along with a 30 minute overrun endtime, NBC has been chopping off the beginning of the shows and showing us the middle of certain performances with no introductions. Is anyone else having this problem? We are going to have to watch a lot of the Gymnastics on NBC.com since we already know the results of the All Around from the announcers after watching the individual vault finals Any ideas would be appreciated, since we are missing results!

Best of all, it is a relief not to have to watch the talking heads and their blather about the election!
You are so right. The break has been enjoyable.

Do the pros still get to represent other countries? If so - then stick with the pros.

When speaking of using non-NBA players - why limit to college? Take anybody... D-League, College, the guys that play in the tournament for a million dollars, the And1 ballers - open it up to everybody.

I didn't watch the 10km, but was surprised how little the legs are used in the 800 and 1500. Is that the same for the 10km, very little use of the legs?

cd :O)

Not a expert to be honest but i thnk legs get used a lot in 10km swimming races since they are in open ocean for 2 hours it would be impossible to just rely on arms.
