One of my DVR recordings had the gold medal rugby game. I know virtually nothing about Rugby so I decided to watch and possibly learn.
It was Great Britain, where rugby was invented, vs. tiny Fiji, population <900,000, recently devastated by a monster cyclone. I said this is going to be a whuppin', but I'll watch anyway.
And it was a painful wuppin'. Final score 43-7.
It was men against boys. The Green Bay Packers vs. Green Bay Community College.
But it wasn't big Great Britain doin' the wuppin', it was tiny Fiji. They won their first ever gold medal.
And the Fiji players were awesome – like NFL linebackers and big Adrian Peterson type running backs.
Very classy move I thought by Simone Manuel to let the Canadian tie her and obtain the first gold for the Canadian Team (aka: The Penny Oleksiak Team) at these Olympics.
