Is anyone familiar from the fairly new Del Webb Hill Country Retreat?

I have been to their web site and it looks nice. Located just outside the 1604 loop on the south west side. Just wondering if anyone has some personal input?

Thanks

Is it a 55+ community too? I was checking out the AR Del Webb and didn't notice all the pictures of old people that I passed on the way in. The smart alec girl at the desk was kind enough to let me know it was a 55+ community, though. I'd love to live in something like that, but I don't want to be 55..

We are looking seriously at moving in there....LOVE the place...been watching it since the initial meeting at the Hyatt some almost 4 yrs ago and are liking it more and more as we look into it.

Some traffic issues (culebra intersection) were an issue for us, but looks like they are worked out. Now we just need to decide if we are wanting to make one final overseas move in the next few years before we plant those "roots" or are we here to stay.

We have decided that we will move in there, just before or after a shot at Europe for a few years....
Average age there is 62 or so, very lively, friendly group. We attended the Jazz Festival last Sat and had a blast...these are big "kids" loving life and enjoying it to the max!!!

I liked it a lot too. It was very quiet and the thought of no kids is just beyond appealing, especially now that my oldest is finally flying the coop on Saturday

Any experience with Pulte in this development. We used to live east of Austin, moved to Phoenix, but headed back to TX and like the 55+ idea.

The only real problem in Tx are the horribly high property taxes.

Spoke to several people out there...and all were pleased with Pulte as the builder. Like with any home, there are issues that some of the the owner find once moved in, but all said they had no issues with the builder getting them corrected. I know when we bought this house (Centex) we all WANT things to be perfect and they come up as you are in and get to know the house...but everyone said that they had worked out the kinks and that they ended up with the product they wanted...those issues are not unlike building a new home anywhere. If you don't want to deal with the new house kinks/issues (yard, window coverings, etc) there are a few for sales out there. It is a retirment community...some have passed away, moved into long care, or back in with kids after the death of a spouse...it happens.

Thanks to everyone for their comments. It does look like a nice area, the only thing, cost per square foot is almost the highest in San Antonio.

Yea, it is a little steep, but the amenities are outstanding, and the monthly HOA is reasonable given all the things they offer...$100 per home. With that, I get WAY more than a Spectrum (or similiar) membership that cost more than that. The one thing that made it easy for us to decide to buy there is the fact that EVERYONE said they LOVED it there...no, "Its fine", "not bad" NOTHING except "I love it here", "wish I would have done this sooner" type of remarks. The cohesiveness of the community is apparent, everyone waves at you as you drive by regardless of what they are doing...watering the lawn, talking to a neighbor, sitting on the front pourch. Also, the same thing from everyone we asked "you can do as much or as little as you like, but it is there for the taking"...I LIKE that element. We have honestly made at least 100 trips into the community in the 3 yrs we have been watching it develop, and see nothing that gives us anything except good vibes. We met our relator at the house again yesterday and had 2 cars that were driving by stop and introduce themselves and welcome us to the neighborhood.

The inspection on the home we have put a contract on is this week, if that passes with flying colors, we will be moving in within 4 weeks.

Well PAKA, looks like we will be neighbors. My wife and I signed a contract on a new build and move in at the end of September.
Thanks for all your input. The home was started last week.
We can't wait.

Default You mention high property taxes...

What do you consider high?
My wife and I are moving from Tucson, AZ and are interested in San Antonio. You have homestead exemptions right? Doesn't that make the tax smaller?
